I'm not surprised that they wouldn't warranty something when they have a provably-modified ECM.
However, last sentence:
Now that automakers are de facto software companies, they're only going to get better at figuring out who did what to a PCM.
Well gee, if thats the case, how about a difference-logger to show what's been changed? They're making cars that they know people are going to modify. They should have clear information available to their customers about that.
