iAccel phone app

Post by wxo »

Does anyone have any experience with the iAccel phone app? I just discovered it and I'm trying to figure out how to use it.

Sorry. I forgot to add that part. It's a vehicle performance app for iPhones and android phones.

iAccel is a performance meter designed to test the acceleration and braking performance of your vehicle. In use it displays a series of gauges to monitor performance and a continual graph of selected parameters. For further information and information about how to use the app, see iAccel When performing a test brief results can be displayed on screen and are stored in a CSV file for easy export if further analysis is required. Analysis of the data generated can be performed using our GPAccel program.

iAccel-1Version 1.7 of iAccel is now available from the App Store

The pro-version adds the ability to measure 1/4 mile acceleration data

I've been doing some exploring of it and with the free version, the speed is limited to 80mph (maybe for safety reasons). I have sent a question in to the author to find out if the pro version will allow higher speeds.

Does it do lateral Gs also? Could be good for autocross as well - like cheap telemetry

Author Jon Neades says: There are no restrictions on the ¼ mile test. It will record whatever you achieve.

PS: I bought the Pro version for $2.99 and it has the 0-1/4 mile test.

I started setting up the iAccel app with the following settings:

Vehicle mass (kg) 1556kg (3430 lb. ) As delivered weight with me in it.
Vehicle drag coefficient (CD) 0.35 (from C4 forums)
Vehicle frontal area (m²) 1.8m² (19.2ft²) (from C4 forums)
Air density (kg/m³) 1.244 (calculated from local weather info)
