WXO and I are both chasing AC leaks. We learned something interesting. An inexpensive tool allows a Schrader valve to be replaced without losing the charge and without getting sprayed with refrigerant.

Advice to check the Schrader valves after gauges are disconnected seems good to me. My house AC lost charge TWICE after being "serviced" then worked fine after being recharged. I suspect a leaking Schrader valve.
Tool is on the way from Amazon.
